For many family owned businesses, staying successful for more than a few generations is a lofty goal that few are lucky enough to accomplish. But for Bermuda-based John Barritt and Son Ltd., keeping the business up and running since 1874 is simply a matter of providing top-notch customer service, working with the right people and providing a quality product. The longstanding beverage distributor has developed a reputation for success in each of these categories throughout the 21 square miles that is the island of Bermuda – and beyond.

The development of Cayman Distributors Ltd. is as casual as a ride in the back of a pickup truck. When company founder Ken Hall started the Cayman Islands business in 1968, he had been working in the island’s fledgling banking industry. He saw that the few pubs that existed were forced to import their products directly from offshore sources or purchase directly from one of the local hotels. After finding local partners, he decided to quit his banking job and start a liquor distribution company.

Honoring the past and planning for the future are as important to Adelphia Seafood as its day-to-day commitment to provide fresh, quality product to its customers. “Many companies like ours make sure people get fresh products, but I think what makes us different is our commitment to the future,” says Jason Hurleman, president and owner of the Reading, Pa.-based wholesaler.

It’s not difficult to find a good party in Central Florida. Tampa is so well known for its quality celebrations that Maxim magazine ranked the city sixth on its list of top party cities, and fun and good times surround Orlando with its Disney and Universal Studios theme parks. On the east coast of the region, Palm Bay – with its extensive coast line – is home to countless beach bashes. And, for the past 50 years, Wayne Densch Inc. has played an important role in these shindigs as the region’s top distributors of Budweiser and Anheuser-Busch products.

Wine connoisseurs may have an aroma of the hoity-toity, but a deep understanding of and appreciation for alcohol is apparent in their aftertaste. Stefanelli Distributing, a supplier of a variety of wine and other alcoholic beverages and products, operates in the true spirit of connoisseurship. Stefanelli Distributing is located in Fresno County, nestled in California’s Central Valley. It stocks domestic and imported wine, beer and spirits and delivers them to the four California counties of Fresno, Kings, Madera and Tulare.

Producing and marketing a primary commodity, such as milk, carries an enormous amount of responsibility, even more so when producing for and distributing to a developing country that lacks the proper information and finances for making healthy food and drink choices. As Bolivia’s leading dairy business, Pil Andina assumes this responsibility armed with modern technology, deep market knowledge, social commitment and forward-thinking.

Even after 35 years in business, John P. O’Sullivan Distributing Inc. isn’t finished growing. The Flint, Mich.-based beer distribution company continues to make plans to grow both in market share and in physical space. The company distributes 2.5 million cases of beer annually to bars, convenience stores, grocery stores and event venues in Michigan’s Genesee, Shiawassee, Lapeer, Saginaw, Midland, Bay and Gratiot counties.

Believe it or not, there was once a time when Blue Nun and Riunite were the dominant wine brands in the United States, and the many premium wine brands that we know and love today were yet to be understood or recognized. That kind of recognition doesn’t come overnight, and no one knows that better than Henry Wine Group.
